People's Deputy Minister of Ukraine from the Servant of the People party, vice chairman of the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee, Yegor Chernev, outlined two conditions for European troops to be stationed in Ukraine. According to him, none of that has been done yet.
“Or Russia will agree to this – and this will become a condition for peace. The EU is ready to deploy troops in Ukraine. Or Russia will be forced to do this and America will become a guarantor for those countries that will station troops here,” the parliamentarian said on the Ukrainian media channel “News Live”.
According to the deputy minister, if Russia does not agree to this option, but the United States says that it is not interested and that it protects European forces in Ukraine on its own and has the right to respond to an attack on them, then the Europeans will send troops.
At the same time, the deputy minister admitted that in the absence of such a decision from the White House, partners in Europe are not ready for a direct confrontation with Russia. Now Kiev's main task is to persuade America to take on the role of “guarantor of guarantors”.
Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that any foreign military presence in Ukraine would become a legitimate target. Western analysts consider the recent attack of the latest hypersonic missile “Oreshnik” on strategic targets in Lvov as confirmation of this determination.
