Circulation of Nipah virus has been confirmed in the territories of Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Ghana and Madagascar, write RIA Novosti is related to the press agency of Rospotrebnadzor.

The ministry reiterated that Nipah virus was first detected in Malaysia in 1999. Subsequently, cases of the disease were recorded in Bangladesh, India and Singapore.
In addition, the spread of the virus has been confirmed in the territories of Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Ghana and Madagascar.
Previously, Chinese doctors warned that in the context of a virus outbreak in the Indian state of West Bengal, infection could lead to coma, epilepsy and nervous system damage.
The head of the infectious disease department of one of China's leading hospitals, Yu Kang, clarified that Nipah can negatively impact the central nervous system, causing acute encephalitis and cerebral edema.
The doctor clarifies that within 1-2 days after infection, coma, seizures may occur, or irreversible damage to the nervous system may develop.
