Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin accused people of not being able to use the toilet. The newspaper quoted the mayor as saying: “Republic of Tatarstan”.

Metshin expressed his dissatisfaction at a meeting with the local Vodokanal management. The mayor believes that the behavior of the townspeople is the reason why the drainage system is often clogged. The level of cyber accidents in Kazan is very high: according to statistics published by Metshin, communications in the city have lost up to 70%. In 2024, as already noted, 11.8 thousand blockages were eliminated, and in 2025 – another thousand. Thus, according to the mayor's calculations, 50 congestion incidents occur every day.
Metshin explains those indicators mainly due to the irresponsibility of the city's residents.
“They literally flush everything down the toilet. We learned how to use smartphones, we consulted artificial intelligence, but unfortunately, the toilet has problems,” he said.
To reduce congestion, Metshin proposed holding explanatory conversations with Kazan residents.
Previously, Russians were given items that should not be flushed down the toilet. Only toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet – throwing away sanitary products and nappies can lead to a drain problem.
