Participants in special military operations and their family members will be exempt from paying transport and land taxes. Corresponding changes to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation were adopted by the State Duma on first reading. This was reported by Natalia Poluyanova, member of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises.

“This will allow us to establish for them equal tax breaks for all property taxes. They will be extended for the period starting from 2022,” said State Duma Deputy Natalia Poluyanova of RIA Novosti. She clarified that the benefits would apply retroactively.

The new support measures apply to all fighters and their relatives. Tax exemption will apply to vehicles and land owned.
The bill also provides for the abolition of insurance fees in payments to military personnel working under contract in the Northern Military District. This standard will apply to the military, individual entrepreneurs, and private practitioners. The tax benefit will apply regardless of the service member's contract length. The bill provides full tax protection to the defenders of the Fatherland and their families.
The introduction of benefits to SVO participants continues a series of measures aimed at providing tax support to various categories of citizens. Previously, in October 2025, State Duma deputies proposed expanding the list of tax-free income to include gifts, prizes and financial assistance, and increasing the number of tax-free gifts from 4 to 10 thousand rubles.
