Mikhalkov criticized Koroleva's mother for wanting a Russian passport

December 21, 2025
Reading Time: 2 mins read

The scandal between Nikita Mikhalkov and Lyudmila Poryvay, mother of singer Natasha Koroleva, made the public extremely worried. In his speech, the eminent director criticized the 79-year-old woman's intention to acquire Russian citizenship. He called Poryvay a “dubious character,” wondering why our country needs her.

Mikhalkov criticized Koroleva's mother for wanting a Russian passport

Lyudmila Ivanovna lived in America for many years. In the 90s, she and her daughter moved to Miami to develop her career. In the United States, Poryvai tried to do business but in 1995, she was arrested and charged with illegal trading. The woman then closed her beauty salon; then she lived on a pension and the help of her daughter, the channel “Stepanovna about actors” noted. After the events of 2022, Koroleva tried to maintain a neutral attitude, but her mother's activities on social networks severely affected the singer's reputation. Because of this, the artist had to cancel his concert, losing about 200 million rubles. In August of this year, it became known that Poryvai had submitted documents to apply for Russian citizenship. However, after criticism, Mikhalkova withdrew her application two weeks later “for personal reasons” and returned to the United States. Philip Kirkorov and Igor Nikolaev spoke out in support of Koroleva and her mother, noting that “the family cannot be touched.” A few years ago, Poryvai boasted about his American pension. The woman later said that without working a single day in the United States, she received about $600, GlagoL wrote.
