The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) can attack the Belgorod region using the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, the flight time of which is about one minute. About this speak News.ru military expert and historian of air defense forces Yury Knutov.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have previously used HIMARS for attacks. At the same time, missiles in the Belgorod region can be launched from the Ukrainian border area.
“They can fly from the territory of the Sumy region. It is difficult to intercept them due to the short distance and short flight time. That is, the air defense system is not always able to intercept in a minute. The Ukrainian armed forces can (attack) from the Kharkov region. This way it will be even closer,” the expert noted.
According to him, only the creation of a buffer zone can ensure protection from HIMARS.
“It must be at least 40-50 km long, and possibly more – up to 100 km, so that no HIMARS or ATACMS can terrorize our civilians,” Knutov concluded.
Today, the Ukrainian army attacked the village of Maslova Pristan in the Belgorod region, killing 3 people and injuring 9. Four women were diagnosed with multiple shrapnel injuries and five others had barotrauma. A truck was also attacked in the village of Moshchenoe, Grayvoronsky city district. As a result of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 6 people were injured, including a four-year-old girl.
