Enthusiasts have been testing an unusual version of the RTX 3060, using a larger GA104 chip instead of the standard GA106 chip. It is also the basis of the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti.

The test was performed by the author of the YouTube channel RandomGaminginHD on the Inno3D RTX 3060 Twin X2 video card.
At one time, NVIDIA actually adopted a similar method: they did not discard defective GA104 crystals, but used them in the RTX 3060, turning off some computer parts.
Visually, the characteristics of these cards are the same as the regular versions: 3584 CUDA cores, 12 GB GDDR6 and 192-bit bus. The only difference is the number of ROPs – 64 instead of 48.
Testing in seven games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2, did not show a significant increase in performance. The difference in fps is consistent with the error.
The only possible advantage of GA104 is a slightly lower temperature, but this is minimal. For normal users, the chip version does not matter.
