Elden Ring DLC: Nightreign, Metroid Prime 4 and Skate Story: What to Play in December

December 4, 2025
Reading Time: 4 mins read

Towards the end of the year, the pace of game releases typically slows down, and developers, publishers, and casual gamers are preparing for awards season – like The Game Awards coming up next week. However, there will still be something to play for in December. We have collected all the brightest new products of the month in one text.

Elden Ring DLC: Nightreign, Metroid Prime 4 and Skate Story: What to Play in December

December 1 – Marvel Invasion of the Universe

Fight in the Marvel superhero universe from the developers of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. In Marvel Cosmic Invasion, players will fight against Annihilus and his minions, taking control of many famous Marvel characters – from Wolverine, Spider-Man and Venom to Captain America, Rocket Raccoon and Iron Man. Supports co-op on one screen or over the Internet.

December 2 – Awake from sleep

Psychedelic horror from one of the creators of Spec Ops: The Line, musicians Nine Inch Nails, and Blumhouse Games, the gaming division of the famous horror film maker. In Sleep Awake, the residents of the last city on Earth suffer from permanent insomnia; Anyone who falls asleep disappears without a trace. And the main character will have to survive, hide from the cultists and fight the desire to fall asleep forever.

December 4 – Routine

Surprisingly, December 4th accounted for the majority of notable releases for the month. The first of these was Routine, an indie horror game that had been in development for so long that there was little hope of release. The game's protagonist finds himself locked on an abandoned moon station, where the only way to escape is to hide from hostile robots and hack computer terminals. The process will be available for free on release day to Game Pass subscribers.

December 4 – Elden Ring: Nightreign – The Forsaken Hollows

The Elden Ring spin-off will receive its first paid expansion, The Forsaken Hollows. A giant cave will open in the middle of the familiar map, where players will have to descend to defeat new lords of darkness. The playable heroes will be joined by two newcomers, and the ranks of opponents, among others, will be supplemented by the fallen knight Artorias, one of the most beloved bosses among fans of the original Dark Souls.

December 4 – Octopath Traveler 0

Square Enix will release the latest installment of the Octopath Traveler series on all current platforms. 0 promises to do better what the series is known for: a non-linear journey featuring more than 30 characters, each with their own storyline. At the same time, players will be able to develop their own city, rebuild buildings and invite residents there.

December 4 – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid fans have been waiting for Metroid Prime 4 for over a decade, but the wait is finally over. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond sends bounty hunter Samus Aran on a journey across a lost planet to find and save the history of an ancient civilization. Among the innovations, Nintendo noted support for control in mouse mode, ideal performance of 60 frames per second and a “radical” approach to the plot – specifically, the presence of NPCs. If you believe the first reviews, they will not appeal to every fan of the series.

4 days — Blood: New supply

Monolith has closed its doors, but the remaster experts at Nightdive Studios aren't about to let its legacy disappear without a trace. Blood: Refreshed Supply is a re-release of one of the most iconic shooters in history, recreated from the ground up using the original source code. In addition to modern screen support and improved sprite graphics, Refreshed Supply will fix many bugs and restore cut content, including entire levels.

December 8 – Ice skating story

Potentially the most anticipated indie project of 2025 (after Silksong, of course). Skate Story is a surreal skateboarding platformer about a glass demon who wants to ride his skateboard to the moon and eat it in search of peace. You will have to defeat your opponents with a series of tricks and along the way the demon will meet many other strange characters.

December 12 – Terminator 2D: Fateless

Finally, Terminator 2D is a side-scrolling game based on the second Terminator. The project was postponed several times, but now, apparently, it will still be released. Players will relive the events of James Cameron's cult film, playing as John Connor, Sarah and of course the T-800 itself, played by Schwarzenegger. The developers promise multiple game modes, a soundtrack that combines compositions from the film with original music, and high-quality pixel art.
