Some large Japanese stores specializing in assembling computers on demand have temporarily stopped accepting new orders. The reason is a severe shortage of components, mainly DDR5 RAM and SSD drives, as well as a sharp increase in their prices.

For example, retail chain TSUKUMO has completely stopped accepting orders for G-Gear and eX.computer branded systems. Mouse Computers has temporarily suspended sales of NEXTGEAR, G TUNE and DAIV branded computers from December 23, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
Stores noted that even fulfilling accepted obligations was difficult due to reduced inventory in warehouses and the inability to purchase components at stable prices. After sales resume in January, buyers can expect prices for completed systems to increase.
The situation is exacerbated by seasonal demand ahead of the holiday season and a general shortage in the market due to hype surrounding artificial intelligence technology.
