Articles comparing Pokemon Legends: ZA on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are starting to appear online. The new product was released on October 16 and received a warm reception from critics, but along with various add-ons, journalists noted the untapped potential due to its release on the previous generation of hybrid consoles. Judging by technical analysis, the developers really had to come up with limitations.

On the first generation Switch, Pokemon Legends: ZA only supported the series' usual 30 FPS, but frequently dropped below the target value. This most often happens when the camera moves suddenly. Also in the game, objects disappear and appear depending on how close you are to them. The author of the technical analysis called for approaching the game on Switch with “correct expectations.”
The situation on Switch 2 turned out to be much better, including support for 60 FPS and 4K resolution in the dock. Although textures have been improved, they still lack detail and objects and characters continue to disappear in the distance.
Players in the comments section of Pokemon Legends: ZA were much angrier. They complained about empty roads, a small number of polygons, inaccessibility inside, identical objects and reduced FPS during Pokemon battles. Presumably, all of this could have been avoided if the game had originally been created specifically for the Switch 2.
Another video shows that there are no significant differences in graphics between the two versions. The resolution and frame rate on the Switch 2 are indeed higher, which plays an important role in the perception of Pokemon Legends: ZA, however, from a graphics point of view, only some textures, drawing distance and shadows are improved.
