Players of the shooter game Escape from Tarkov have encountered a large-scale account hack. Hacker groups are rumored to have taken advantage of the security flaw to delete accounts, even those protected by two-factor authentication (2FA). This breach highlights serious security flaws in Battlestate Games' services. A discussion on this topic has flared up, including on the social network Reddit.

Also affected were famous streamers like Dr. Lupo, who was hacked while livestreaming. All player progress was erased and their avatars were replaced with annoying QR codes.
Battlestate Games CEO Nikita Buyanov announced on social networks that the company is taking measures to resolve the current situation. However, there is currently no official statement from the company and players recall a similar large-scale data loss incident in August 2024 due to technical glitches.
