Days are longer
An excellent mod that doesn't break the balance of the game but makes resource management a little easier. Longer days allow you to slow down the flow of time by 1.5, 2 or 3 times. Slow times do not affect the number of minutes you need to spend mining or crafting resources, so modding does not damage the game economy. It will be most useful for those who want to explore the planet at their own pace or manage a base.
Better mining
Mining resources from deposits is perhaps the most stressful element of The Alters, because… Each day players have very little time to gather valuable raw materials. The thing is, by default, deposits give quite a few resources per tick. Therefore, gathering the necessary components for upgrading the base, modules, and consumables later can become a tedious task.
The Better Mining mod is designed to remove this irritant. It essentially doubles the amount of material mined from surface and deep sediments. However, the creator of the modification warns that the mod does not affect deposits that have already been discovered – its effects only apply to resource deposits that have not yet been found. So it's better to put Better Mining into a new save.
Larger scanning area
Before mining resources, players need to find the optimal point to place equipment – there is a separate mini-game for this. The larger scanning area allows you to spend less time on it by increasing the scanning area up to 90 meters compared to the standard 6. Additionally, players can place up to 25 probes at a time.
Storage tweaks
In The Alters, storage modules constantly take up precious free space because… Without them, raw materials, resources, and items cannot be stored. If the location of the modules on the base is not optimized then storage can become a real problem.
The Storage Tweaks mod includes five elements. Firstly, it allows players to build all kinds of storage facilities from day one – provided they have enough resources. Additionally, items take up half the space, which allows you to fit more resources into your base without filling everything up with memory. The organic tank is also doubled for each new level of facility development.
Finally, the mod allows you to remove the standard storage modules without losing the maximum resource storage capacity on the base. And thanks to this, you can easily remove four small modules at the beginning of the game and immediately replace them with improved ones.
