2025 is not an easy year for the gaming industry – but it still shows growth across many areas. Gamesindustry.biz portal collected industry statistics for the year – we highlight the main points from the material.

Global market share
The distribution of product sectors in the market has not changed. 50% of the global gaming industry's revenue comes from mobile games (108 billion USD). The remaining half is divided between consoles ($45 billion) and computers ($43 billion) – 27% and 23% respectively. Each of the three markets showed year-over-year growth; For consoles, this figure was the smallest (4.2%), but the PC gaming segment, surprisingly, showed an increase of 10.4%.
Best-selling game in the US, UK and Japan
Battlefield 6 takes first place in the US – EA's hit shows impressive results, despite skepticism from players and rumors of development problems. In second place is NBA 2k26, and Monster Hunter Wild closes out the top three. Ironically, Black Ops 7 came in seventh place; The game was not hindered by harsh criticism from journalists and ordinary users. But in 10th place is Ghost of Yotei, Sony's only project to make the top 10.
In the UK and Japan, Mario Kart World is in first place in terms of sales, although in the US it doesn't even make the top 10. Predictably, the majority of Japanese sales come from Nintendo projects. There are only two games from other studios on the list: Monster Hunter Wilds in third place and Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake in ninth place.
Mobile market
In the mobile market, Tencent leads among publishers, both in terms of revenue and number of downloads. The first most profitable region is the US, with China and Japan in second and third place, respectively. At the same time, India became the top country in terms of downloads; The United States is in second place and Russia is in fifth place.
As for the game itself, the most profitable mobile project in 2025 is Last War: Survival ($2.12 billion). Notably, Western Monopoly Go and Candy Crush Saga are in the middle of the top, in fifth and sixth place respectively ($1.28 and $1.02 billion). But the first game in terms of downloads is the sensational Roblox – it has been downloaded 288 million times.
Discussion on the Internet
Predictably, the most talked about game of the year was GTA 6 – almost 27,000 documents were published about it, 112% more than last year. It's not hard to guess why: this is the first time Rockstar has spoken openly about the project and has finally announced a release date. Battlefield 6 follows closely behind, but it has shown a significant increase in public interest – up to 21,781%. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, arguably the highest-rated indie title of 2025, came in seventh. But Hollow Knight: Silksong, the most anticipated game of the past 5 years until recently, turned out to be funny – it only reached the penultimate position, 14th, of the rankings. In last place is Cyberpunk 2077.
Among the most mentioned companies are Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation and Microsoft. Overall, many of the publishers and studios on the list lost ground compared to last year. The biggest drop came from Square Enix, which received 31.78% less coverage than before. And Valve took the penultimate spot, despite the announcement of a new hardware line and new rumors about Half-Life 3.
