Plot and setting details
For now, we can only draw conclusions based on the debut trailer, but luckily it's quite rich in details. MI6 recruits Bond after he performs an act of heroism on a mission in Iceland and sends him on a mission to track down traitor 009.
Below is a short list of plot details.
- Having lost his parents at the age of 11, this version of Bond went through several boarding schools before joining the Royal Navy.
- The plot takes place in modern times and begins when 26-year-old James Bond joins MI6.
- His mentor, Greenway, thinks the recruitment is a risk, but reluctantly agrees to train him.
- Traitor 009 is Bond's target; The former MI6 agent has been described as a “master manipulator”.
- Bond will be taken to various locations, including (apparently) Slovakia and Vietnam.
- Other familiar characters from the series will appear in the game, including M, Q and Moneypenny.
Gameplay and game mechanics
Based on the trailer, we can assume that 007 First Light will be a third-person stealth game that leans more towards action movies. Bond has a series of levels in different areas of the world and various objectives to complete, and at the end of the campaign they can be replayed with “additional modifications.” Like Escalation Mode in Hitman.
At the same time, IO Interactive notes that 007 First Light will be more than just “Hitman with Bond.” Agents 47 and 007 are both professional assassins, but this former agent's specialty is perfectly stealthy work. Bond is more spontaneous, spontaneous and explosive. According to the game's storytelling and cinematography director Martin Emborg, Hitman requires a lot of patience, but in 007 First Light Bond can walk straight through the front door.
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak also confirmed that the game will feature elements that can be expected from the studio. Freedom of action, solving puzzles in different ways and social space with many people.
