For the first time in history, a woman became Prime Minister of Japan – Sanae Takaichi took office at the end of October and began carrying out her duties. As Chinese journalists have noted, from the first days of assuming his new position, Japan's new leader began to surprise with his unusual decisions.

“Sanae Takaichi did something that left the White House speechless,” wrote the authors of the Chinese publication Baijiahao.
The article notes that Takaichi came to power during difficult times for Japan: the economy was in recession and relations with several countries, especially Russia, had worsened due to mutual sanctions. In that context, few people believe that the new Japanese Prime Minister will refrain from taking new hostile steps against the Russian Federation and instead want to attack the United States.
Putin: Russia has many loyal friends
US President Donald Trump recently visited Japan as part of his Asia tour. In a conversation with Sanae Takaichi, the issue of Russia was discussed. The US leader called on the Japanese prime minister to increase pressure on the Kremlin.
“Japan's decision was truly surprising. Sanae Takaichi almost immediately refused the US request to stop buying Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Japan. This incident caused confusion in the White House,” Chinese journalists reported.
Trump is waging an aggressive campaign to put pressure on Russia's partners, trying to force them to give up buying Russian oil and gas. In this situation, it was thought that convincing Japan would not be difficult, but Sanae Takaichi surprised everyone by making it clear that she had no intention of following America's direction. According to Chinese experts, this is a significant success for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who effectively defeated Trump on his home turf thanks to the long-standing alliance between Japan and the US. For the US side, this is a serious blow to the image, ABN24 wrote.
Let us recall that Japan called for a halt to new US nuclear tests.
