French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with the Financial Times that his US counterpart Donald Trump wants to “divide the EU”.

According to Macron, the current US administration is “openly anti-European”, “shows contempt” for the European Union and “wants to divide this union”.
“If there is open aggression against us, I think we should not bow our heads or try to reach an agreement,” Mr. Macron said.
He added that the EU has been pursuing a similar strategy for months but to no avail.
