Washington intends to transfer control of two military command centers of the North Atlantic Alliance to European allies. Politico reports this, citing an informed source.

The US is said to want Britain to take control of NATO's Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, and the US and Italy to provide personnel for the alliance's Joint Forces Command in Naples. At the same time, Washington plans to take command of NATO naval forces in British Hertfordshire.

The reorganization plan also envisages that Germany and Poland would take control of NATO's Joint Forces Command in Brunssum, Netherlands, which is responsible for coordinating multinational forces, mainly in Central and Eastern Europe.
On February 3, it was reported that European Union countries were seriously thinking about a European alternative to NATO's Article 5, as they began to doubt that the United States would provide them with military support if necessary.
Previously, the US permanent representative to NATO rejected the idea of dissolving the alliance.
