US President Donald Trump said he still maintains a good relationship with businessman Elon Musk, despite the quarrel that occurred after the billionaire left the team of heads of state.

“Everything is fine with Elon. I like Elon. I've always liked him. <...> He's a good guy and very capable,” Trump told reporters on the plane en route to Japan, a conversation broadcast on the White House's YouTube channel.
According to the president, he still keeps in touch with Musk from time to time. Trump also noted that the billionaire “had a bad period” in his life.
After Musk left his government job, he and Trump staged a public showdown on June 5 via social media. The businessman argued that without his support, the head of the US administration would not win the election in November 2024, endorsed the idea of a new attempt to impeach Trump, criticized the government spending bill developed at the initiative of the White House and the import tariffs imposed by the president. Trump called Musk crazy and said there was a time when he was no longer diligent in carrying out his duties overseeing the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE).
