Reading Time: 1 min read

In Australia, a 52-year-old man has been charged with stealing ancient artifacts from the Museum of Art and Archeology in Caboolture. NBC News reports.

A man stole ancient Egyptian artifacts from the museum

The suspect entered the museum early in the morning of February 13. He smashed display cases, stole ancient Egyptian artifacts and disappeared. He managed to remove from the building a 2,600-year-old wooden cat statue and a 3,300-year-old necklace, as well as the mummy's mask and necklace.

Police found most of the stolen property two days later. The criminal hid them in a motorbike he left in the marina parking lot. A few hours later he was arrested on Russell Island. He carries a small figurine of a cat.

Some returned artifacts were damaged.

Previously, it was reported that unknown people robbed the museum “Napoleon's Last Headquarters” in the Belgian commune of Genape. They stole Napoleon Bonaparte's 18-carat gold ring with five diamonds.
