The ice town in the center of Ulan-Ude will be reserved for trips to Lake Baikal. Marina Govorova, vice chair of the architecture and urban planning committee of the Ulan-Ude administration, told reporters about this.

“The idea of the New Year's town for 2026 is called “Journey to Baikal”. The name was chosen with the participation of active residents,” Govorova said.
Visitors will be greeted at the town entrance by Father Frost and the Snow Maiden, as well as Sagaan Ubgen – a white Elder from the Buddhist temple, patron of family happiness, longevity and fertility. One of the key characters will be the red fire horse – the symbol of the upcoming year.
In addition, in the center of the capital Buryatia during the New Year holidays you will be able to see buuzes ice – a traditional Buryat dish; There will be a children's maze featuring Baikal waves, glowing animal figures, a slide and a fairy tale lighthouse – more than 20 sculptures in total.
Traditionally, Soviet Square in Ulan-Ude will be decorated with a 28-meter high Christmas tree, the composition “Starry Sky” and a ball of light.
Construction work on the New Year's town lasts about a month, expected to begin in mid-November.
