A man confirmed to have monkeypox was hospitalized in St. Petersburg. As Fontanka wrote referring to a relevant city official in the city leadership, the patient had returned from Thailand.

It is known that the first symptoms of the atypical Russian disease appeared in a man while he was on vacation abroad, but he did not attach any importance to this. Only when he returned home, a few days later, did the man see a doctor.
The patient's condition is now stable and he is under continuous medical monitoring. Doctors are also observing his companion, with whom he traveled and lived in St. Petersburg.
Previously it was known that the number of cases of chickenpox in the Moscow region has increased. Rospotrebnadzor regularly monitors biological material.
