Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew to Director Nikita Mikhalkov. The document is posted on the official publication portal of legal documents.

According to the content of the decree, film director and chairman of the all-Russian public organization “Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation” Nikita Sergeevich Mikhalkov was awarded the Order for outstanding achievements in the development of national cinema art and culture as well as many years of effective public service.
On October 21, Nikita Mikhalkov turned 80 years old. People's Artist of the RSFSR is known for his roles in the films “I Walk Through Moscow”, “The Station Agent”, “Slave of Love”, “Sibiriad”, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: The Hound of the Baskervilles”, “Cruel Romance”, “Blind Man's Bluff”, “House Councilor water”. In 1995, his film “Burnt by the Sun” received the Academy Award for best foreign language film.
