Russian authorities intend to develop and implement molecular genetic screening programs that prospective parents will have to undergo when planning a pregnancy. This is reported by based on the plan approved by the Government of this country.

It is clarified that this type of test will help determine the presence of potential disease-causing gene variants in future parents. This will help assess the risk of having a child with genetic diseases at the stage of pregnancy planning.
Responsibility for completing assigned tasks belongs to the Russian Ministry of Health. This year, the Ministry must collect initiatives on the gradual expansion of newborn screening activities, then prepare a report to the Cabinet of Ministers.
All newborns in Russia can be examined for certain genetic diseases for free. This allows you to identify the disease before it develops and begin treatment promptly. Since 2023, screening has been expanded – the number of pathologies detected has increased from 5 to 36. However, there is still no nationally consistent test for expectant parents. Couples can do it voluntarily if they want.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia the pensions of 400 thousand mothers were recalculated. We're talking about people taking care of five or more children.
